บทคัดย่อ:

เจดีย์เหลี่ยมแห่งเวียงกุมกาม จ.เชียงใหม่ ซึ่งเชื่อว่าสร้างขึ้นโดยพญามังราย เมื่อช่วงครึ่งแรกของพุทธศตวรรษที่ 19 ได้รับการบูรณปฏิสังขรณ์ครั้งใหญ่โดยหลวงโยนการวิจิตร คหบดีชาวมอญสัญชาติพม่าเมื่อเกือบร้อยปีที่ผ่านมา ในครั้งนั้นได้เปลี่ยนแปลงรายละเอียดดั้งเดิมทั้งหมดของเจดีย์ไปเป็นแบบพม่า โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งได้เพิ่มจระนำประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปขนาดใหญ่ไว้กลางด้านทั้ง 4 ของฐานเจดีย์ และพระพุทธรูปทั้ง 4องค์ยังมีพุทธลักษณะแตกต่างกันอีกด้วย บทความนี้จึงได้อธิบายและสันนิษฐานถึงรูปแบบศิลปะและความหมายของพระพุทธรูปแต่ละองค์ที่สร้างขึ้นใหม่นั้น

ABSTRACT:

Chedi Liem, at Wieng Kum-Kam, Chiang Mai, would have been built by King Mang Rai in the first half of the 14th century A.D. 100 years ago, Luang Yonakamwijitra, a Burmese merchant restored and changed all of the former ornaments into a Burmese style. The most important aspect of that restoration maybe the addition of 4 large niches at the middle of the chedi’s base. However, the 4 Buddha images under each niche had different styles and iconographies, so the author will describe this interesting evidence in this article.
