บทคัดย่อ:

สระอโนดาต สระศักดิ์สิทธิ์ในวรรณกรรมพุทธศาสนา ถูกนำมาใช้ออกแบบเป็นส่วนประดับบริเวณพระเมรุมาศของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ซึ่งถือเป็นครั้งแรกและไม่เคยปรากฏในงานพระเมรุมาศครั้งใดมาก่อน แม้ผู้ออกแบบอธิบายความหมายเชื่อมโยงกับโครงการพัฒนาตามพระราชดำริที่เกี่ยวกับน้ำเป็นหลัก อย่างไรก็ตาม เมื่อศึกษาคติความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับสระอโนดาตให้ถี่ถ้วนแล้ว พบว่ามีความสัมพันธ์กับความเป็น “พระจักรพรรดิราช” ในอุดมคติและความเป็น “พระโพธิสัตว์” จึงถือว่า เป็นเครื่องเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระมหากษัตริย์ได้อีกด้วย นอกจากนี้ คุณลักษณะสำคัญของสระอโนดาตที่มักจะอยู่คู่กับเขาไกรลาสเสมอนั้น ถือเป็นอีกความหมายหนึ่งที่เชิดชูพระเกียรติยศพระมหากษัตริย์เช่นกัน ในฐานะที่เปรียบเสมือน “พระศิวะ” เทพเจ้าผู้สถิตอยู่บนภูเขาดังกล่าว อันสอดคล้องกับคติความเชื่อหลายอย่างของไทยตั้งแต่โบราณ ที่เน้นย้ำความเป็นพระศิวะของพระมหากษัตริย์อีกด้วย ดังนั้น การใช้สระอโนดาตเป็นส่วนประดับพระเมรุมาศครั้งนี้ จึงทำให้พระเมรุมาศมีความหมายเชิงสัญลักษณ์เปรียบดั่งเป็นเขาไกรลาสนั่นเอง

ABSTRACT:

Anotatta (so-called Anodat in Thai) the sacred pond mentioned in Buddhist literature was used as a model for the decoration of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s royal crematorium. Although the architecture described “the decorative meaning”, it was mainly related to the King’s royal projects on water resource development. It was due to the textual (and intertextual) study of Anotatta that this sacred pond has been shown to be relevant to Cakravartin and Bodhisattva ideologies in the Thai socio-cultural context. The concept can also be utilised to glorify kings as well. The significant characteristic of Anotatta is a representation of Mount Kailash: Lord Shiva’s divine residence, also meant to emphasize that “the king = Lord Shiva” and has been represented in several cultural aspects for a very long time. The use of the Anotatta model as the decoration of King Rama the ninth’s royal crematorium, therefore, symbolically meant that the funeral structure was Mount Kailash itself.
