บทความชิ้นนี้พยายามทำความเข้าใจทัศนของอิสลามที่มีต่อความรุนแรงโดยมุ่งถอดรื้อ (deconstruct)

มายาคติความรุนแรงที่ครอบงำอิสลาม เพื่อเรียนรู้หลักคำสอนที่ถูกต้องของอิสลามต่อความรุนแรง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในหลักคำสอนเรื่อง “ญิฮาด” ซึ่งเข้าใจกันทั่วไปว่าเป็นหลักคำสอนเกี่ยวกับสงครามอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของมุสลิม นอกจากนี้บทความชิ้นพยายามทำความเข้าใจหลักคำสอนของศาสนาอิสลามที่สอดคล้องกับความเป็นพหุนิยม ทั้งนี้ เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงการเคารพในความแตกต่างหลากหลายของทนุษย์เพื่อการอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสงบสุข

ABSTRACT:

A Challenge in the Age of Terrorism

This article attempts to understand violence in relation to Islam by deconstructing the myths in order to learn the proper Islamic teachings, especially the use of "Jihad", widely known as "the holy war". Apart from that, the article articulates Islamic teachings on pluralism, assuring that Islam respects the rights of others. In turn, this teaching will lead to living together in harmony.
