บทคัดย่อ:

บทความนี้เป็นบทการศึกษาเพียงเรื่องเดียวที่ใช้หลักฐานและแนวคิดที่เป็นเหตุเป็นผลในการตั้งข้อสมมุติฐานว่า ตำแหน่งนาม “ศรีจุฬาลักษณ์” ที่ปรากฏในหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์ของไทยนั้น เป็นตำแหน่งของสตรีชาวสุพรรณภูมิมิใช่ชาวสุโขทัย อย่างที่เชื่อกันตามการศึกษาของผู้รู้เมื่อครั้งสมัยต้นกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ (ร.2-ร.3) ข้อสมุมติฐานที่ตั้งขึ้นครั้งนี้ จึงสามารถนำไปใช้กับหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์อื่นๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับตำแหน่งนามนี้ ในการอธิบายให้เห้นภาพที่ชัดเจนในกระบวนการทางการเมืองในการรวมรัฐโบราณ คือ แคว้นสุโขทัยเข้าเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของอาณาจักรศรีอยุธยา

ABSTRACT:

This article serves as the only document currently available which offers evidence and a logical approach to understanding of the use of the name “ Sri Culalaksna” as the ranking title for women from Suvarnabumi and not Sukhothai. The paper contradicts the previous studies from the early Ratanakosin period which was during the reign of King Rama II and III. This new understanding of the use of the name can be used for interpreting other related evidence to provide a better understanding of the political strategies in melding the settlements of Sukhothai into Ayutthaya.
