บทคัดย่อ:

ภายหลังจากที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปิ่นเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวเสด็จสวรรคตแล้วพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวโปรดฯ ให้ปรับห้องตอนกลางพระที่นั่งอิศเรศราชานุสรณ์ พระที่นั่งตึกสองชั้นแบบตะวันตก ในพระราชวังบวรสถานมงคล เป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมอัฐิโดยโปรดให้ทำตู้ไม้จำหลักปิดทอง 3 ตู้ ตู้กลางประดิษฐานพระบรมอัฐิพระบาทสมเด็จพระปิ่นเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ตู้เบื้องขวาประดิษฐานพระบรมอัฐิพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย ตู้เบื้องซ้ายประดิษฐานพระอัฐิสมเด็จพระศรีสุริเยนทราบรมราชินี และทำเพดานและอัฒจันทร์สำหรับตั้งเครื่องบูชา

บนบานตู้ที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมอัฐิประดับรูปสัตว์สัญลักษณ์ในวงรีบานละ 2 ตัว คือ สุนัข 2 ตัว ครุฑ 2 ตัว และ ครุฑกับราชสีห์ จากการศึกษาพบว่ารูปสัตว์เหล่านี้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ของ “วัน” ตามคติอัฐเคราะห์ ดาวเคราะห์ 8 ดวง ซึ่งมีนามเรียกเป็นสัตว์ต่างๆ ได้แก่ อาทิตย์-ครุฑนาม จันทร์-พยัคฆนาม อังคาร-สิงหนาม พุธ-โสณนาม เสาร์-นาคนาม พฤหัสบดี-มุสิกนาม ราหู-คชนาม และ ศุกร์-อัชนาม ซึ่งสัตว์สัญลักษณ์แต่ละคู่นั้นคือวันพระราชสมภพและวันสวรรคตของแต่ละพระองค์การเรียกวันเป็นนามสัตว์ต่างๆ เหล่านี้น่าที่จะเป็นที่รับทราบกันแพร่หลายเนื่องจาก เป็นคติที่ปรากฏในตำราพิไชยสงครามและทักษาตำราโหราศาสตร์เกี่ยวกับการตั้งชื่อตัวของบุคคลต่างๆ

ABSTRACT:

After King Pinklao passed away in 1866, his brother, King Rama IV adapted the central hall in Issares Rajanusorn Mansion, a two storey western building in the Front Palace, to be an altar room and established three carved wooden cabinets decorated with gold leaf to hold the royal relics. The relic of King Pinklao was placed in the middle cabinet, King Rama II’s relic was placed in the right hand side cabinet and Queen Sri Suriyendra’s relic was placed in the left hand side cabinet.

On each of the cabinet’s doors were carved two creatures; two dogs, two Garudas, and a Garuda with a lion. These creatures are the symbols of day in the Astagraha and the 8 planets or 8 days in Thai astrology. The Astagraha named the creatures as follows; Sunday-Garuda, Monday-tiger, Tuesday-lion, Wednesday-dog, Wednesday night-elephant, Thursday-mouse, Friday-goat and Saturday-Naga. The two creatures on cabinet’s door are symbols of the day of birth and the day of death of person as is widely understood under Thai astrology and the “Thai Art of War”.
