ถึงแม้เครื่องถ้วยลายครามสมัยราชวงศ์ที่พบในประเทศไทยจะมีอยู่เพียงไม่กี่ใบแต่เครื่องถ้วยเหล่านี้มีความสำคัญต่อการศึกษาด้านประวัติศาสตร์ ประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะและโบราณคดี ดังนั้นการกำหนดอายุเครื่องถ้วยเหล่านี้จึงเป็นเรื่องที่ไม่อาจมองข้ามได้

นักวิชาการได้กำหนดอายุเครื่องลายครามจำนวนหนึ่งซึ่งพบที่วัดมหาธาตุป้อมเพชร จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา เวียงท่ากาน จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ วัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัย จังหวัดลำพูน และวัดพระพายหลวง จังหวัดสุโขทัย ไว้ในช่วงสมัยราชวงศ์หยวน ทั้งนี้ผู้เขียนได้ทำการศึกษาลวดลายต่างๆ บนเครื่องถ้วยเหล่านั้นพบว่ามีเครื่องถ้วยส่วนหนึ่งสามารถกำหนดอายุไว้ในสมัยราชวงศ์หยวน ได้แก่เครื่องถ้วยจากป้อมเพชร เวียงท่ากาน วัดพระพายหลวง และไหทรงกลมจากวัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัย ส่วนไหจากวัดมหาธาตุ และไหทรงแปดเหลี่ยมจากวัดพระธาตุหริภุญชัยควรกำหนดอายุในสมัยราชวงศ์หมิง

ABSTRACT:

Though limited blue-and-white porcelain from the Yuan dynasty has been found in Thailand, it is still considered significant within the fields of history, art history and archaeology. Thus, definitive porcelain dating shouldn’t be neglected.

Scholars have previously consigned much blue-and-white porcelain to the Yuan dynasty. Examples are pieces from: Mahathat Temple and Pom Pet in Ayutthaya, Vieng Thagan in Chiangmai, Haripunchai Temple in Lampoon, and Prapailuang Temple in Sukhothai. After studying the porcelain motifs, the author discovered that porcelain from Pom Pet, Vieng Thagan, Prapailuang Temple and the circular piece from Haripunchai Temple can indeed be dated to the Yuan dynasty. However, the porcelain from Mahathat temple and the octagonal piece from Haripunchai Temple cannot be earlier than the Ming dynasty.
